Humanity will need to cooperate as we respond to global problems, disasters and
threats to our survival. Internet, the planetary nervous system, is fostering
a rapid communication and cross-cultural relationships that enable humanity
to work collectively to make a better world for all of us.
In 2007 an estimated 16.6% of the world’s population will have Internet access
(Source: IWS).
But still there are too many who lack access to communications and information.
This lack of access creates barriers to education, democratization, and economic growth.
A whole new range of Internet sites are emerging using social networking models
to help connect people to people (family, friends, business partners).
These applications, known as online social networks are becoming increasingly popular.
